Welcome to MECDC 2

 

Hult International Business School, in collaboration with the Canadian University of Dubai will host the 2nd Middle East Career Development Conference. MECDC II is a networking opportunity designed to gather higher education career counselors and other career-advising professionals from academic institutions throughout the region, with the ultimate goal to share best practices in career counseling and advice. The conference agenda includes:

 

-Featured speakers from the MENA region

-Webinars from speakers of US HE institutions

-Roundtable discussions for sharing best practices and learning experiences

-Hands-on workshop for your professional developemnt 

 

Career counselors and specialists will share best practice, examine new programs and trends as well as networking with colleagues in the career development field. By sharing our experiences and reflecting on the current trends in career development, we aim to foster a culture of collaboration, to develop improved career programs for our respective institutions and students.

 

We hope this conference will build on the success of the first, to bring career professionals from the region and beyond, closer together and look forward to welcoming you all on May 1st in Dubai.

Stella has over 7 years of career counseling experience from international institutions such as the London School of Economics (UK) and University of West London (UK). Prior to joining HULT International Business School, Stella was heading the Career Services Department at the American University in Dubai and has been an adjunct lecturer of professional career development classes. During her work at AUD she acquired a strong knowledge of the MENA market talent development needs. She has initiated, lead and implemented several projects related to graduate recruitment and job seeker employability skill development, while working in a consultative capacity with several HR global teams of companies within the region and beyond. Priding to be an “intrapreneur”, during her work at AUD, Stella initiated the inaugural Middle East Career Development Conference in 2012 as a platform of sharing best practices among career services professional in the MENA region. Stella holds a BA in Management and Business Administration from the University of Macedonia (GR), an MSc in International Management from the University of Surrey (UK) and an MBA from the the American College of Athens (GR).

Michael is a graduate from the University of Waterloo, Canada in the Mechanical Engineering Co-operative Education program and is a Project Management Professional. He gained 12 years of industry experience in engineering and IT project management (including a 1 year sabbatical teaching English in S. Korea) before returning to his alma mater as a career counselor and employment manager for the UW UAE campus’ co-operative education department. Mike joined the Canadian University of Dubai as Career Services Manager last September and is looking forward to developing lasting relationships and collaborations with students, faculty, and employers.After attending MECDC 1 in 2012, Mike was eager to get involved with this year’s conference to continue the tradition and help build a strong career counseling network in the region.
